Second Annual Fall Workshop
Saturday, October 16th, 2010

The West GA Chapter of GNPS held their Second Annual Fall Workshop on Saturday October 16th.

The speaker at the morning session was Dr. David Morgan, Professor of Plant Systematics at the University of West Georgia. David presented on his 2 year study of the plant species at McIntosh Reserve and the effect the 2009 flood has had.

During the break Gina Strickland gave a demonstration at the plant table of the container plantings and described the plants used. The containers were given away as door prizes.

The keynote speaker was Tom Patrick, Botanist with Georgia Natural Heritage Program and Georgia DNR. Tom presented 'An Appreciation of Trilliums' with some additional thoughts on the west Georgia area and Carroll county flora. The audience was delighted by the photos illustrating the wide variety of forms and color variation.

We would like to thank the speakers for their time and engaging presentations. We also want to thank the Ag Center staff for their support in preparing for the event and the WGC volunteers who donated plants, setup the plant tables and information table and who worked the merchandise table, the registration table and donated refreshments. The efforts of volunteers ensured a nice event for all.

The Chapter also gratefully acknowledges Caroll County Master Gardeners and Farmer's Fresh CSA who donated some of the door prizes.
